Slow loading site

  • Hi there,

The loading time for my site is really slow, but also the loading time for the wordpress dashboard.

I have contacted my server hosting about this, and this is what we already tried to make the site faster:
    – Deleted all other themes
    – Deleted unused or unnecessary plugins
    – Optimize images
    – Installed SSL
    – Use only one activated cache plugin at the time (Tried different options)
    – Activated “Zendy Speed: Query Strings” plugin (And in the end also delete this plugin to check if it makes the site faster)
    – Activated only one theme builder at the same time
    – Used all browsers in the latest versions
    – All links in the site are set for http://www.sourceevents.nl instead of sourceevents.nl
    – Deactivated all the plugins to see if it makes the dashboard faster, including plugins from the theme (Did not work)

    – Tried another theme: Site worked fast as it should

This to me concludes that the long loading time comes from the theme. Is there a way to make it faster? I really love the options from this theme, but my loading time is now 11(!!) seconds.. I can’t do that to myself and my customers..

    Kind regards,
    Lysbeth

    Hello Lysbeth,

Thank you for reaching out to us! I hope you’re doing well.

We’ll kindly ask you to check the following article and see that your server requirements are met: https://nicethemes.com/article/server-requirements/

For Smart, we recommend having all your options for Images, CSS and JavaScript turned on in Theme Settings > Performance.

For page cache, we recommend W3 Total Cache (https://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/), since it’s been largely tested with our themes.

Whatever it is the plugin you’re using for page cache, we recommend turning off all its file minification options for HTML, CSS and JS, and use Autoptimize instead: https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/. Here is a screenshot with our recommended configuration for Autoptimize: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l621ucr6mlpuepk/Screen%20Shot%202017-06-28%20at%2014.53.49-fullpage.png?dl=0&raw=1.

Also, you may want to take a look at this article about website performance and optimization: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wordpress-performance-speed/. It has a lot of useful information that can be relevant to your site.

    Best,
    Juan.
