Child Theme not working correctly

    I created a child theme to support the modifications made to the home page template (turning it into two columns instead of three). However, the child theme doesn’t show the slider on the home page (even though the template is an exact copy of the one in the main theme), the colors are wrong (even though the NiceTheme settings are identical), and the logo won’t load (even though it is showing up as if it exists in the customization option).

    Can you tell me if there’s something specific needed to get BBQ to work with the child theme?

    Hi, Juan. I’m using version 1.2.2.

    I know there’s an update, which is why I was creating the child theme so that I could update without losing my modifications.

    Hi Yvonne,

    Thank you for the follow up.

    For the latest release we’ve solved some child theme compatibility issues, you can find the full changelog here: http://updates.nicethemes.com/themes/bbq/changelog.txt

    I guess that if you have followed our recommendations regarding customizations you should be able to update without any problem.

    Another option is moving the theme you have now as the child theme, and then updating the parent theme to the latest version, in the meantime you can work on the child theme to cut off all of the repeated code.

    Thanks, Juan. I was finally able to coordinate a time with the client to work on the site and installing the updated theme worked flawlessly.
