I am working on a site that is hosted inside the Rackspace Cloud Sites that has been producing an endless sea of errors when saving Food Menu items and other post type information.
When I try to save a Food Menu item, I receive the following error in my php error log (a 500 error is served to the browser):
WordPress database error Got a packet bigger than ‘max_allowed_packet’ bytes for query UPDATE `wp_options` SET `option_value` = ‘a:72946:{i:1452013450;a:1:{s:23:\”nice_cron_version_check\”;a:1:{s:32:\”a4f7c5794142991da8bc9309736db8c3\”;a:3:{s:8:\”schedule\”;s:6:\”weekly\”;s:4:\”args\”;a:2:{s:7:\”current\”;s:5:\”1.0.4\”;s:6:\”latest\”;N;}s:8:\”interval\”;i:604800;}}}i:1452013459;a:1:{s:23:\”nice_cron_version_check\”;a:1:{s:32:\”a4f7c5794142991da8bc9309736db8c3\”;a:3:{s:8:\”schedule\”;s:6:\”weekly\”;s:4:\”args\”;a:2:{s:7:\”current\”;s:5:\”1.0.4\”;s:6:\”latest\”;N;}s:8:\”interval\”;i:604800;}}}i:1452013471;a:1:{s:23:\”nice_cron_version_check\”;a:1:{s:32:\”a4f7c5794142991da8bc9309736db8c3\”;a:3:{s:8:\”schedule\”;s:6:\”weekly\”;s:4:\”args\”;a:2:{s:7:\”current\”;s:5:\”1.0.4\”;s:6:\”latest\”;N;}s:8:\”interval\”;i:604800;}}}i:1452013485;a:1:{s:23:\”nice_cron_version_check\”;a:1:{s:32:\”a4f7c5794142991da8bc9309736db8c3\”;a:3:{s:8:\”schedule\”;s:6:\”weekly\”;s:4:\”args\”;a:2:{s:7:\”current\”;…
And this just repeats for lines and lines in my error log.
I’ve updated the NiceThemes Framework and this didn’t fix the problem. I also attempted to update the BBQ theme, but this didn’t solve it either (I rolled the theme back after this didn’t resolve the problem). The WordPress core is current as well as every plugin within the site.
MySQL is has max allowed packet set to 16,777,216 and I’ve never run into this problem with other sites.
Please let me know if there is any way to resolve this issue, because without the ability to save new information, the website is completely unusable.
Juanfra Aldasoro March 29, 2016 at 8:11 pmHi,
Thank you for writing. I hope you are doing well.
You now have both latest versions of theme and framework?
Is there any chance we can get access to your site host so we can check the database and server configuration?
Best,
Juan.
