The Flatbase theme is really great, thank you!

I’m hoping you can help. I’ve found that since installing the theme, broken links are just going to a blank page – shouldn’t there be a ‘failure page’ of some sort?

Yes, that page is handled with the 404.php template, that is currently set to have a blank canvas. We are working to include new ways of displaying this for the upcoming versions.

Could I possibly suggest, if I may, that there’s a ‘whoops’ page with a search bar added? (and perhaps a ‘report this as a problem’ button?)

The blank page is currently confusing users.
