Hello.
I have created What’s new section that appears in homepage and link to individual what’s new post pages. I used custom post for this one to separate from blog posts (which is press in this site).
When you go to the individual post page, it shows recent what’s new post, Recent press posts, Archives in their right column. I use widgets for Primary section. However, I don’t want to show press contents in what’s new section. How can I separate these post page widgets? Do I have to create a custom php for what’s new page? or create separate widgets? Please let me know.

Thanks for writing. I’m not sure how you created the what’s new post page. You mention that you’ve created custom posts?
In order to have separate widgets from the widgetized spaces on the theme, you can create a new template with a new sidebar. Actually that would be part of a customization.
