Hi there,
I’m using Flatbase for a huge and important project and we’re in the last few weeks before launch. We’ve discovered, that it is possible to insert a description for every article category. The Problem is, that they were not displayed – neither on the home page nor on the article category page.
What do we have to do?
Please help us to get this to work.
Best regards
Juanfra Aldasoro July 30, 2015 at 3:02 pmHi,
Thank you for writing.
Excellent, we’d be more than happy to see how this huge and important project goes 🙂
You can get this new taxonomy-article-category.php file and replace the original with this new one that displays the article category description: https://gist.github.com/juanfraa/435ab575f7de31762d24

Juan.THORianer July 30, 2015 at 3:36 pmHi,
thanks therefore. But as I wrote before, we want the category description to be displayed on the home page underneath the title of every article category. And this new php file is only the solution for the article categroy page…
Please help us to desplay the description on the home page.
Best regards
Juanfra Aldasoro July 30, 2015 at 11:19 pmHello,
Thanks for the follow up. Well, unfortunately the theme is not prepared to display the category description within the Knowledge Base, and we cannot provide support on customizations: http://nicethemes.com/article/support-vs-customizations/
What I’d recommend you is to check the available filters for the function nicethemes_knowledgebase(); present in the file /flatbase/includes/functions.php

Juan.THORianer July 31, 2015 at 6:23 amSorry, but that’s not cool… The code itself is to complicated and to complex to find what we have to look for.
What a great “support”…
Juanfra Aldasoro July 31, 2015 at 2:29 pmHello,
Thank you for the follow up. I understand that you may be upset because of not being possible to have the category description in the place you want.
But, unfortunately, we cannot provide customization services on top of a fully functional and well coded theme with updates for $49 dollars. We’d love to do that, but it is not sustainable, it would lead us to bankruptcy.
The function nicethemes_knowledgebase();, which I pointed out in my previous message, is plenty of of filters, thing that makes it pretty flexible. It should be understandable by any experienced WordPress developer.
We recommend services like http://codeable.io to get customization works.

Juan.Juanfra Aldasoro July 31, 2015 at 3:47 pmHello,
Just as a follow up, we’ve updated the theme to the version 1.0.3, in which we include an option to display the Article Category description.
In order to do that, you’d need to add the following code to your functions.php file: https://gist.github.com/juanfraa/1e9c8bc90e43224c8532
Remember that you have to update your theme files.
Best,
Juan.
