With regards to the update, by any chance are you still having files from the old version? It seems that you still have files from the old version of the theme.

Have you tried removing all the files from the old version and upload the latest version? Please make a backup before attempting any change.

I was able to resolve the problem by clearing the database and reinstalling the theme files. Thank you
