Flatbase theme is making the website load very slow

  • Hello,

    We are setting up a website using flatbase theme, only accessible within our company’s network.

    When we activate the theme, the website takes a very long time to load, the WP back-office is loading normal, and if we switch the theme to another one, the website is back to normal.

    Is there a known issue regarding this?

    Thanks for writing and thank you for your purchase.

    That sounds super strange, there’s no known issue regarding Flatbase’s performance. More than that, it is successfully powering already more than a thousand websites without problems on that regard.

    What’s your current server setup? Are you running other plugins that may be causing your site to load slowly? How are you measuring the loading time?

    That’s really strange, do you have access to the server error_log? What does that say? There must be something that generates the problem. It’s the first time we see this type of problem with Flatbase.

    Hi Juan,

    We checked and there is nothing in the error_log. With Flatbase, the website wait 60 sec to give an answer, and with Twenty Seventeen the response is immediate, so there must be an issue with Flatbase.

    We can’t give you access to the website as it is only accessible with our company certificate.

    Yes, I understand what you are saying, and I’m not trying to deny that you may be having trouble with the theme and your current setup. What I’m trying to say here is that this issue never came up so far, and the questions I’m asking are based on the attempt to find more information about your set up to find a real reason. It is not normal to have a site loading in one minute these days.

    For example, on our demo site is taking less than 2 seconds to return the document

    I wanted to ask you if you can give me more information about your server setup, PHP version, etc. Is there a way you can send me some access details at some point? That would be the best way for us to check what’s happening. We’re really intrigued because with 1000+ installs we never heard of something like this.

    Thanks for the follow-up and thanks for the info.

    What do you use for the WP website? I assume you use MySQL, but I’m not sure if you copied the right version. I’m afraid 15.1 doesn’t exist.

    Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do if we are unable to see the site and the errors that may come up.

    One thing I wanted to ask you, that I didn’t ask you before: if you set your WP_DEBUG to true, do you get to see some type of warnings or something?

    Yes you are right, we are with MySQL 5.5.

    When we turn on the WP_DEBUG, we get this error: Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): Headers and client library minor version mismatch. Headers:50553 Library:100125 in /…/public/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1538

    Do you think this would be a cause?

    While I can’t assure that would be the entire problem, I can imagine that it could be part of it. It would be great if your devops could fix that.

    Apart from that, you don’t get to find any other type of notice/warning/error in the error_log or any other place, right?

    Is that the only server you own? It would be great if you could test it in any other server.

    Hi Juan,

    I had my devops working on it this morning, he fixed it but the loading issue is still here.
    There are no issues coming up.

    On the wp-admin/admin.php?page=nice-theme-system-status page there is a button to download a json file with full report to send to support, maybe I could send it to you?
