Juan,
I apologize so many times for still being on this. I’ve overwritten all the files, ive removed the theme all together and then uploaded the new one again and i still have the small list appearing at the bottom http://thepeppercanister.com/?menu-category=catering-menu
what is the cleanest way to manually update to the newest version of BBQ?
Juanfra Aldasoro March 5, 2013 at 12:32 amHi Laura,
No worries 🙂
Please check that there’s a new option for this over the options panel. You should check or uncheck if you want to have the category template with the grid view. Have you done that?
Best,
Juan.lauramanney March 5, 2013 at 12:52 amHi,
No, I don’t see that … you mean in the options area above the menu category item? It must be only partially updating the theme. Maybe I’m doing it wrong since i’m used to templates that update automatically when prompted. I followed the overwriting of all in the /includes and I replaced the style.css. But now i have to go back through my site and manually put back all adjustments that I made through support in the style.css file from before.
I think ill take a break for today and regroup tomorrow when I’m not getting frustrated. I’m sure it will work better for me then! But if you have any suggestion as to what is the best way to make sure BBQ is updated (even though it says I’m running 1.0.7) that would be great. I can wipe the whole thing out if i need to?
Thanks for your patience,
Laura
lauramanney March 5, 2013 at 6:06 amHi Juan,
thanks so much for your responses today. it’s MUCH appreciated!
I was able to restore my site to the previous version of BBQ and I decided to just go with this for now, and the category lists on the left aren’t necessary for this client.
so my one last question is this …. I have “menu” in the top navigation with the drop down categories of “food” and “drink”. Is there a way to make “Menu” a dead link so that i can get rid of the menu page and only have the 2 dropdowns as clickable links? I think that’s pretty intuitive anyway to not click on the the main head and it will make everything perfect!
thanks for the great theme and ive told many people how great your design and support is.
best,
Laura
Juanfra Aldasoro March 5, 2013 at 1:35 pmHi Laura,
I’m really sorry that we don’t have an intuitive theme updating system yet, we’re working on that and I hope to have it soon. So, please if you want send me your FTP details to support@nicethemes.com and I’ll happily take a look at that.
Secondly, thanks a lot for your comments 🙂
Finally, regarding your last question – I think you can make that by using a custom link and having the # sign as URL. That way, the link wont be taking anywhere and you’ll be able to use it as the “parent” of the two others.
Best,
Juan.
