Hi,
I have to integrate english translation on the website of one of my clients. This one use WP Globus.
All pages are ok except the home page. How can I translate the different parts of the home page please (welcome message, title of each part and button)?

Hi Marie,

Thank you for writing. In order to give you an answer as exact as possible, we need to know which one of our themes you’re using.

However, in the meantime, I can tell you that some parts of our themes might not be fully compatible with WPGlobus, since it’s not a plugin of our authorship. Nevertheless, all of our themes are completely translatable using WordPress internationalization guidelines.

That said, there are several ways to translate a theme. Here we like to use the program Poedit – you can get a free copy of it in this URL: http://www.poedit.net/

First, download and install Poedit. Then, see that within the theme files there’s a folder named “lang”. Over there you can find the translatable files. So, for example, in order to translate the theme to “Swedish”, you’ll need to do the following:

1. Open the file in Poedit.
On the left, there’s a box with the original message (in English) from the POT file. Beside that box is where you add your translation.
2. Go to File → Save as… to save your translations in a PO file. (must be named sv_SE.po and sv_SE.mo)
3. When you are finished translating, go to File → Save as… again to generate the MO file.

Finally, you need to be running your WordPress install in Swedish:

You can change Swedish, for any other language listed on the last link I’ve sent you.

Hi Marie,

In Paeon, those texts are saved within the theme options, unlike other text strings that are stored in files. WPGlobus has published an article detailing what you need to do in order to translate strings saved as options: http://www.wpglobus.com/extensions-archive/multilingual-texts-in-wordpress-theme-options-panel/

In short, you need to follow these steps:

1. Download and install the WPGlobus Translate Options plugin (this is a secondary plugin that works as an add-on for WPGlobus): https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpglobus-translate-options/
2. Edit your text inside the Theme Options panel using language delimiters. For example: {:en}Welcome!{:}{:es}¡Bienvenido!{:}{:fr}Bienvenue!{:}.
3. Go to WPGlobus > Translation Options and open the Translate options page. Use the search box to find the text you created in the previous step, and you will be presented with the name of the option that stores your string. Just click on the name of the option to add it to the list of translatable options, and then click the Save button.

You need to repeat these steps for every option you want to translate.
