I have selected for a specific page to appear as the front page, for some reason the images in it won’t show up even when featured. I do want the info boxes to show up like in the live demo. For some reason the page isn’t showing at all?
josheaton September 25, 2013 at 2:33 ambasically I want the page howtwoeat.com and the info boxes to show on the home page, each linking to wherever I choose. I will create the menu later.
josheaton September 25, 2013 at 2:34 amnot howtoeat.com… page howtwoeat – next time I will drink less beer before I do this.
Juanfra Aldasoro September 25, 2013 at 8:50 amHi Josh,
I hope you’re doing well 🙂
In our theme docs section for BBQ you’ll find out how to set the home page as it is for the demo site. You need to visit this page and follow the steps: http://nicethemes.com/support/theme-docs/bbq/#page-templates
Please have in mind that the infoboxes only appear on the home page template.
Best,
Juan.josheaton September 25, 2013 at 2:35 pmHi Juan,
Thanks for the reply. I apologize for all the questions. I have followed these instructions to the letter and the info boxes show, but not the page “howtwoeat” that I have created and set as static. This page also is using the home template.
I also ensured that I applied 777 permissions to the entire template directory.
If I click on edit page after enabling these changes, I see the text, but it won’t appear on the page when I preview or view.
I am stumped!
Juanfra Aldasoro September 25, 2013 at 2:41 pmHi Josh,
Thanks for writing. The problem is that the home page template doesn’t include the content that you save when creating the page. It only displays the info boxes, the pre-footer widgets, and the slider (if configured).
To show your content on that page, you’ll need to configure the template (template-home.php) and add the WordPress function the_content() in order to display the content.
Best,
Juan.josheaton September 25, 2013 at 3:41 pmOK, I see how the_content() would work. I assume I just need to add that line. somewhere above this. Lastly, could I get a copy of the bbq home template used on the demo site?
Does this look right?
<—– This is what I added
josheaton September 25, 2013 at 3:43 pmJuanfra Aldasoro September 25, 2013 at 3:44 pmHi Josh,
Thanks for writing. Yes, that’s right, you need to edit the file template-home.php and add the_content() wherever you want to display the page content.
By asking a copy of the bbq home template used on the demo site you mean the XML data? The file is the same as you get when downloading the theme.
Best,
Juan.josheaton September 25, 2013 at 3:46 pmI figured that part out… I want to add the image slider, etc that is on the demo, I think I can stop driving you crazy after info regarding that.
Thanks again
Juanfra Aldasoro September 25, 2013 at 3:52 pmHi Josh,
Sure, no worries. I’ve sent you an email containing the XML data.
Remember you can tune up your slider options in the Theme Options panel.
Have a nice day,
Juan.josheaton September 25, 2013 at 4:34 pmThanks Juan – I hope I will leave you alone now. Are you in Argentina?
Juanfra Aldasoro September 25, 2013 at 4:36 pmNo problem Josh 🙂
I am from Argentina but not in Argentina at the moment 🙂
Juan.
