Hi,
I purchased the BBQ theme today, and have downloaded the zips bbq.zip and folly.zip that were available on my dashboard. I followed the instructions on your site, but as I clicked Install, it starts unpacking the zip, but installing fails, saying it failed to create the folder.
My wordpress is in Norwegian, and my current site has been running a different theme with Jigoshop. Not sure if that creates any conflicts. (I did also try to deactivate jigoshop and still same problem).Looking at the zip-files I downloaded, both these folders are empty, but re-downloading them doesn’t give a different result.
Eager to start building my website with your design, and would love to hear back from you soon!
Kind regards,
YngvildJuanfra Aldasoro November 5, 2013 at 9:48 pmHello Yngvild,
Thanks for your purchase and welcome to NiceThemes.
It seems that your wp-content/themes/ folder doesn’t have permission to create the bbq folder for the theme. I suggest you to change the directory permissions to 777 in order to make this work. This is a server related issue, so probably your server company will be able to guide you on how to achieve this. It’s quite likely that you can do this from a file manager in your hosting account, or if you have a FTP account for your server, from your FTP client directly.
With regards to the integration with JigoShop, I’m afraid we haven’t tested the theme with this plugin, but I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t have any conflict.
Regarding Norewgian translations: There are several ways to translate the theme. Personally, I like to use the program Poedit, you can get a copy over here: http://www.poedit.net/
First, download and install Poedit. Then, see that within the theme files there’s a folder named “lang”. Over there you can find the translatable files. So, you’ll need to do the following:
1. Open the file in Poedit.
On the left, there’s a box with the original message (in English) from the POT file. Beside that box is where you add your translation.
2. Go to File → Save as… to save your translations in a PO file. (must be named nb_NO.po and nb_NO.mo(for Bokmål) or nn_NO.po and nn_NO.po(for Nynorsk) )
3. When you are finished translating, go to File → Save as… again to generate the MO file.Do you get an empty folder when you open the zip file? or in the server?
Thank you,
Juan.yngvild November 5, 2013 at 10:04 pmHi again,
I opened up the permissions through my ftp client, but I still get the same error message when I try to install it.
I can see the bbq.zip file under the “uploads”-folder on my ftp, so it seems it gets uploaded, just not unpacked where it should. It’s a ~300kb sized file there. So not sure what I can do next then? Thanks for all the other tips regarding translations etc. Have used Poedit before, and it’s worked okay in the past. =)
I will not be using the jigoshop with the new theme I’m installing, I just don’t want to remove the old content before I know that I can move onto the new theme.Juanfra Aldasoro November 5, 2013 at 10:13 pmHello Yngvild,
Thanks for your prompt response.
So, you’ve downloaded the zip file from your user dashboard and you tried to upload that zip from the “Appearance > themes” panel or you uploaded the file directly to the uploads folder?
The size of the zip file is correct, if you unzip the file in your computer, do you get to see the theme files?
An alternative is to unzip the file in your computer and then upload the /bbq/ folder to your server /wp-content/themes/ folder.
Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience.
Best,
Juan.yngvild November 5, 2013 at 10:19 pmHi,
I downloaded the zip file from the dashboard. And I tried to install it as you described, by choosing appearance – themes – add new – upload – install now. It starts installing but then comes back to me with an error message saying that it failed to create a folder.
The zip file shows up empty on my computer – so there are no files to extract “Windows cannot complete the extraction” “The compressed folder is invalid”.
Thanks for your quick responses!
YngvildJuanfra Aldasoro November 5, 2013 at 10:22 pmHi Yngvild,
No problem 🙂
This is super strange. I’ll send you another copy of the zip file through email, please confirm me if you still experience the same thing with this new one.
Thanks,
Juan.yngvild November 5, 2013 at 10:56 pmThank you for the email exchange and the new zip-file. That did the trick!
Also very very happy with your prompt response and helpful manner! Great to get it resolved so quickly!
Cheers,
YngvildJuanfra Aldasoro November 5, 2013 at 11:00 pmI’m happy that everything went well.
