Request ID #1960 Resolved
  • Hi,

I have created this site using BBQ theme: http://www.hireasushichef.com/
I just have a couple of questions..

    1) Menu categories
Can I choose the order in which these appear? If so, how?

    2) Food Menu Items
Can I choose the order in which these appear under each menu category? I would like the menu item with photos to appear first followed by the menu items in text. e.g. I would like to get like to get the food menu items under ‘Nigiri’ and ‘Inside -out Rolls’ to appear like the other menu categories – ‘Tempura’ for instance.

    3) Twitter
The twitter feed no longer seems to be pulling through to the website. I have not included the ‘@’ – I have simply entered ‘HireaSushiChef’

    4) I would like to add ‘telephone number’ field to the contact form – how do I do this?

    5) I would later like to add a gallery but cannot see how go about adding this.

    6) Do I need to backup my website now it is finished? e.g. via ftp?

Please can you send me a copy of the the BBQ theme instructions as I don’t seem to have this.

    Many thanks

    Juanfra Aldasoro

    Hello there,

    Thanks for writing.

    Answering your questions:

    1) at the moment this theme doesn’t allow you to choose the order. However you can use this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/taxonomy-terms-order/ to set an order.

    2) Yes. Whenever you create or edit a food item there’s an input that says “order”. Enter a numeric number there to set the order.

    3) Unfortunately the reason of this issue has to do with Twitter’s new API (https://dev.twitter.com/blog/api-v1-is-retired). They now ask for an API key on every request, thing that breaks the way that many users/sites/wordpress themes were retrieving the tweets.

We’re looking for a solution regarding this issue. I hope to have news soon.

    4) Unfortunately that’s not possible with the built in form. However you can use any plugin such as “Contact form 7” in order to create a new form and add all the fields that you need.

    5) You can check an explanation on how to create and manage the gallery template here: http://nicethemes.com/forums/topic/gallery-not-working-as-in-live-demo/

    6) It’s always better to have a backup. I would recommend you to use any of the plugins in the wordpress plugin repository (look for plugins on http://wordpress.org)

Finally, we have a theme documentation page for BBQ which you can find here: http://nicethemes.com/support/theme-docs/bbq/

    Best,
    Juan

    Hi Juan,

    Thanks for your reply!

    1) I have downloaded this plugin and it worked – thanks

    2) I have tried to use the order box to order the sushi item I would like to appear first under ‘nigiri’ and ‘inside-out rolls’ but I cant get it to work.. I have tried putting #1 and #26 for ‘inside out rolls’ – but either way it goes to the end of the list rather than the beginning. The same is happening for ‘Nigiri’ – I have tried putting #1 and #15 but it always appears at the end of the list…

    3) Thanks for the info..

    4) I have added contact form 7, but how do I remove the existing contact form? Will I have to change the page template and loose address and opening hours?

    5 & 6) Thanks I will have a go

    Many thanks again

    Liz

    Hi Liz,

    Thanks 🙂

    2) Remember that you have to give order to the other items, if not they’re defaulted to 0 and it won’t change much.

    4) Great – You’ll need to edit the file template-contact.php. Please make a backup before editing.

So, the idea is to take away the code that generates the form, that would be removing lines #85 to #108.

    From

    to

    both included 🙂

    Best,
    Juan.

All sorted. Fantastic theme support! Thank you Juan 🙂
