Hello,
I am trying to create a menu from a basic page, the included menu tools take too long to change a menu daily. The problem is that when I add a page under a parent (page) it wont work while using permalinks with /%postname%/. When I set the permalinks to ‘default’ the pages work.
Juanfra Aldasoro January 16, 2013 at 1:11 pmHello Jared,
Thanks for writing. I’ve moved this topic to the correct forum, BBQ.
I’ve seen your problem, and it’s basically because the theme is using the reserved “menu” name for the custom post type of food menus.
So when having, for example, the following slug for your page http://mydomain.com/menu/ – if you have child pages for that page, the theme will consider them as food items – i.e. : http://mydomain.com/menu/beer-and-wine/ it will look for a food menu item named beer and wine. If it isn’t found it will give you the error you’re actually having.
There are some ways to solve this. The first one, and in my opinion, the easiest one would be changing the permalink for the “Menu” page you have. That would be, changing it for “our-menu” or something similar ( http://mydomain.com/our-menu/ instead of http://mydomain.com/menu/ ).
On the other hand, I can send you a piece of code for you to put when creating the custom post type for menu items, so it’s not publicly queryable. The only limitation when doing this is that you won’t be able to use permalinks for your food items.Thank you,
Juan.
