The BBQ has been updated since I created my site and I would like to update it, but I do not want to lose my current formatting. Is it necessary to replace all the files in the theme? If not, can you tell me which ones I can replace with losing the changes I’ve made to the colors etc?
Secondly, I would like to disable the mobile version of the site for the time being. I deleted the responsive section in style.css, but when I do that my android says the site can not be displayed. Please advise and as always thank you for your time!
Juanfra Aldasoro November 7, 2013 at 12:39 pmHi Tracy,
Thanks for writing. Yes, we’ve been releasing updates lately.
It’s recommended to replace all the files. Where is that you’ve done the modifications? (files). I would recommend you to always make the CSS changes on the file custom.css. It’s there with that purpose.
With regards to the responsive issue, try deleting the following line from the file header.php:
Best,
Juan.tracyholland November 7, 2013 at 12:53 pmThe changes were all in the style.css file. I will try this. Thank you.
tracyholland November 7, 2013 at 1:23 pmI deleted that line, but it is not coming up on mobile at all.
tracyholland November 7, 2013 at 1:53 pmOops, had to clear cache. It is showing up fine on my google tablet, but on my android it is showing the mobile blog only. Not the home page.
Juanfra Aldasoro November 7, 2013 at 2:46 pmHi Tracy,
Thanks for your prompt response. What do you mean with the mobile blog only? The home page is displaying? Would you please explain me a bit more about the issue?
Thank you,
Juan.tracyholland November 7, 2013 at 4:12 pmSorry, that was a little vague. When I pull up the site on android, you basically see only the blog posts on a white background with a purple bar at the top with a drop down of the navigation and a search. If you scroll to the bottom, there is a link the bottom that says “View Full Site”. This link goes to the same home page you see on a laptop. This is the page that we would like displayed on all devices initially.
Juanfra Aldasoro November 7, 2013 at 5:17 pmHi Tracy,
That’s really strange. I mean, the home page should be loading the same thing on any device. And actually, that’s the way the theme is coded. Are you using any external plugin to manage responsiveness?
Have you tried reloading over the android device?
Thanks,
Juan.tracyholland November 8, 2013 at 1:38 pmNope, not usine an external plugin. I did reload on the android and cleared the history.
Juanfra Aldasoro November 8, 2013 at 3:01 pmHi Tracy,
Thanks for your response.
Good, so it’s working as it should now?
Best,
Juan.tracyholland November 8, 2013 at 7:21 pmNo, it’s still showing the mobile version on android. I just checked the Iphone too and we have the same issue there.
Juanfra Aldasoro November 8, 2013 at 7:30 pmHello Tracy,
I’ve been through your site on an iPhone and it’s looking like that because of the JetPack plugin. So, it’s finally because of that plugin.
Please visit the settings page of JetPack. Find the “Mobile Theme” module and click on the “Learn More” button. After you click that button, the “Deactivate” button will appear to the right of the “Learn More” button. Click “Deactivate” and you’ll be set.
Best,
Juan.
