I put content on the home page(yes it’s a static page from READING) along with Blog post

I’m stuck! and tired of reinstalling!

Thanks for writing. Are you able to get an error_log for us? Please, if you can, send it over support@nicethemes.com. Is this problem only happening with this theme? if you use another theme you don’t the internal server error?

Please explain what i goofed up since the content on put on the front page HOME is not showing and home button seems to be the only nav button that doesnt get an internal error

You don’t see any content on your home page, because you’ve selected the “Home” template. That template doesn’t print the page content, it shows the slider/infoboxes/widgets as you can see on the demo site http://demo.nicethemes.com/?t=bbq

The forum is public, I’ve edited the thread as soon as I saw it. I’m pretty sure you’re safe. However, if you want you can change your password.

I’ve been through your site. And it was a problem with your WordPress directory permission. Our theme was not the poblem.

Whenever you change your permalinks, you need to have your wordpress root folder writable in order for WordPress to create/update the .htaccess file. That file contains the configuration for the permalinks. This means, rules for the server to translate your desired URLs into what WordPress need as parameters.

This problem has nothing to do with our theme, BBQ. This was caused by your file permission on your server and WordPress.

Appreciate you solving this! Now where can I get some good info on installing the slider? i dont see that in my delivered documentation

Yes, that’s part of the WordPress documentation. Plus, when you update your permalinks and the .htaccess file doesn’t count with the sufficient permission there’s a note right there to mark this, asking the user to do it manually.

With regards to the slider, you need to add slides. For each slide you can insert a title, a slide description and you must set a featured image to be shown. Once you add the slides, you can modify the slider configuration through the “Theme Options” panel, under the “Slider” tab.

Well OK. I have created sliders and they are not working after setting them as featured images. 🙁

what have I done wrong now ? I learn fast so thanks for your help. this all works i buy more themes! been using weaver and wanted a change. your stuff looked good for bbq

Hi there,

Regarding the slides, you need to set the images as featured images. As it is now, you’ve inserted the image in the content. You need to add them as featured images instead.

Setting featured images is really straightforward, you need to click over the “Set featured image” on the “Featured Image” at the right bottom part of the screen (when you’re editing or adding a new slide). Once you click over that text, you will see an uploading screen identical to that used when inserting an image into a blog post. Follow the on-screen prompts to choose the image from your computer and upload it or choose it from one of the images already in your Media Library.

Once the image has successfully been uploaded, you’ll see one or more images displayed as thumbnails. Click on the one you want to use as a featured image. It will then appear outlined in blue with a checkmark. If desired, you can add a caption and alt text under the Attachment Details area (optional).

Next, click the button Set Featured Image. Don’t forget to click Update on your post/page to save your changes. Your featured image is now set!
