Theme Suddenly Displaying Entirely Incorrectly

Hey there,
This has been a frustrating week trying to build my website. I love the BBQ theme so much, but it seems like everything I add to the site lately (plugin or not, etc) does not operate. This time the most mystifying thing so far has happened.
Essentially the theme seems to have stopped working altogether. The colors are retained, but instead of BBQ, I get what looks like a sitemap’s worth of content on every page.
The most recent plugin I added and began to tinker with was W3 Super Cache. That being said, I was having enormous success with it and noticed the site starting to run much faster. After that, I tried Robots Meta. I didn’t notice the issue I described above occurring until I started receiving 500 Server Errors after tinkering with Robots Meta. I have since deleted the Robots Meta plugin from my database, as well as tried deactivating W3 Super Cache, but I have so far been completely unable to salvage my theme. I also tried activating a different theme and switching back to BBQ, but still the same weird sitemap-like result.
At this point I’m at my wits end, but trying to stay positive. The last few days straight have been nothing but me trying to figure out issues I don’t really understand, since I’m not someone who understands code at all. Any and all help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
One thing I was unable to do was download my latest VaultPress backup before this one. For whatever reason, it keeps having errors connecting with the server to do that successfully.
Otherwise, I’d rather consults the experts on this one for now.
Thanks in advance,
Brad
Juanfra Aldasoro May 2, 2013 at 1:33 pmHello Brad,
Thanks for writing. Unfortunately one of the plugins you’ve installed broke your site. As far as I see, the theme CSS wasn’t loading, because it was bad referenced.
What I did: First, I Disabled the plugin that was causing the problem (WP Minify), second, I deleted the cache (because the site was cached, by WP super Cache).
It now looks like a normal copy of BBQ.
(NOTE: If you want your slider to work, you need to set the featured image.)
Best,
Juan.bgbaron89 May 2, 2013 at 7:01 pmThanks Juan,
I haven’t had any issues with the slide for the record, just removed the images for now. But thank you for pointing that out anyway. 🙂
Any idea what it was about WP Minify that caused the theme to break? So I know what to watch out for in the future…
Juanfra Aldasoro May 2, 2013 at 7:56 pmNo problem 🙂
It was actually trying to load several CSS files, with a bad URL. As the site wasn’t having the stylesheet, seemed broken.
Best,
Juan.
