Hello.

I have followed this guide https://nicethemes.com/forums/topic/how-to-translate-the-theme-to-swedish/
and called the filename nicethemes-da_DK instead.

Nothing happened. I sat the language to danish in “setting”>”general”.
Is there anything else I should do?

Thank you for writing. I hope you are doing well.

Have you completed the catalog translations into Danish for the files you mention? The strings are not translated automatically, they need to be done and they can be done with a program like poedit.

Yes, used Poedit to translate some of the strings, (not all) to test if it worked.

Is that a problem?

Thanks for the follow up.

So you have the nicethemes-da_DK.po and .mo files in your theme translations folder, you have the WordPress install in Danish and still you can’t get to see the translations?

That sounds really strange, are we missing something? Have you tried to translate the strings with a plugin like loco translate? https://wordpress.org/plugins/loco-translate/
