  • Hello there,

I found there are two parts called “Posts” and “Articles” if I want to post article in back end. Seems like they are two completely independent system.
The first one links to WP original system, using WP category and can’t be searched by live-search. And the second one links to Flatbase theme system, using Flatbase demo category and available for all functions in Flatbase theme.

    Is that normal?

    Regards,
    Sean

    Hi Sean,

    Thank you for writing.

Yes, we have created a Custom Post Type for Articles, given that articles and posts are not (or shouldn’t be) the same thing.

Posts are meant to be blog posts, and they will give content to the blog. Whereas articles, are more like tutorials, and they populate the knowledge base. They also can be categorized.

    Best,
    Juan.

    Hi Juan,

    Thanks for your reply.

I did some configrations for URL rewrite, but it doesn’t work for “articles” system. Could you please share your suggestion on this issue? Thanks.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the follow-up.

Where have you done that? In the Settings > Permalinks screen?

What’s the problem that you are currently facing? Getting a 404 when you try to visit articles?

    Best,
    Juan

Yes, in the Settings > Permalinks screen. But the article URL type didn’t change accrodingly.

    Sean

    Hi Sean,

    Thanks for the follow-up.

Well, that may be more related to WordPress itself and your server configuration than the theme. I’d recommend you that check that your .htaccess file is writeable by your user, because the changes for permalinks are done on that file, and it is something related to WordPress. You can check more about permalinks, and how to set them here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

    Juan.

    Hi Juan,

Actually, it works in “Posts” (WordPress) but “Articles” (Flatbase). Could you please share your thoughts of solution? Thanks.

    Hi Sean,

    Thank you for the follow-up.

Yes, the permalinks screen in the WordPress settings section works only for posts, not articles, that is a custom post type.

If you want to change the permalinks for articles you may want to use a plugin, you can read this article to learn how to change permalinks for custom post types: http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-change-custom-post-type-permalinks-in-wordpress/

    Best,
    Juan.
