Thank you for all your suggestions. We’ll take them into account for future releases. About the icons, Font Awesome was included by default because it’s one of the most used open source icon sets, so lots of developers are already familiar with it, though I personally agree that it’s not the prettiest solution around for icon fonts.
By the way, you did a great customization work with the theme!
