1. Cannot import Classic Demo – the UI is broken it is shown as a simple blog.
2. Could import HelpDesk Demo, however videos are not shown, infoboxes are not shown.
3. Only a predefined number of categories are displayed. How do I increase the number of categories of articles shown on first page?
4. Sidebar background – can it be modified?

With regards to your questions:

1. Could you please share your site URL with me so I can take a look? The importer should be taking care of setting up the front page, but normally if it’s showing like a blog, what you need to do is set your home page as your front page: https://nicethemes.com/article/setting-home-page/

2. The help desk demo doesn’t come with infoboxes or videos as it uses a normal page with a sidebar for the layout and not the home page template.

3. Ideally you should be seeing all of your first level categories in your home page. Is that not happening?

4. Unfortunately the sidebar background can’t be modified from the theme options but you could use custom CSS to change that. https://nicethemes.com/article/how-to-use-firebug-to-customize-your-theme/
