I love this theme and how simple it is.

I was wondering if you know of a way / code to update to change the background color of the pre footer section not the whole pages background?

Thank you for writing and for the kind words.

Unfortunately it is not possible to update the pre footer widgets background color. You can do that by adding some custom css though: http://nicethemes.com/support/theme-docs/flatbase/#custom-css

The name of the class of the div containing the pre footer widgets is .pre-footer-widgets.
