  • The roboto font weight seems to be bolder/heavier than it should be..
The light weight seems to be normal that of typical Roboto.
    I’ve drawn up a comparison.

Also, are there plans to add the Roboto Thin weight option?

    Thanks,

    Gerard

    Hi Gerard,

    Thanks for writing.

Where are you taking those fonts to compare? A graphic editor tool like Photoshop/Fireworks?

Have in mind that the text above the live search functionality has some shadow which can be a bit confusing in terms of font weights.

    Best,
    Juan.

Photoshop. If you see the roboto font weight on Google, you’ll notice a difference.

I do notice the slight shadow, but that shadow is dark and doesn’t seem to affect the boldness of the white text.

    Hello Gerard,

Well, webfonts never look the same in photoshop as they do in a browser. They even differ on different browsers. For example, viewing a google font in Chrome doesn’t look the same than in Firefox.

What I mean with the text shadow is that it may affect the way you see it, like an optical illusion, not that it affects the boldness. For example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_illusion

    Best,
    Juan.
