Setting Homepage content

Hi there,
I’m probably doing something wrong, but I can’t seem to create any content on the static page, unless I’m setting attributes for via the theme (i.e. sections such as Our Professionals, Our Services, etc.)
According to your instructions, I’ve done the following:-
1. Add a new page, I set the title simply as “Home”
2. Change Page Attributes, Template = “Home”
3. In the content region, I entered in some placeholder text and inserted some imagery I’d like go. I think published the page.
4. Go to Settings > Reading > Select “A static page” > Front Page: Home > Save Changes
5. From here, if I view the site, none of the content I set in the Page “Home” is visible. All changes such as the Our Professionals and Our Patients appear.
Can you advise what I might be doing wrong?
Juanfra Aldasoro December 11, 2013 at 1:16 pmHi There,
Thanks for writing.
Yes, you’re doing it right. The only thing, is that the home page template wasn’t meant to display the content that you insert in the “description” input. It only displays what you can configure within the theme options (Home Options and Slider), and then, the information you add like Staff, Services, Feedback, Widgets.

Juan.theorchard December 11, 2013 at 9:41 pmThanks Juan,
Sure thing, that seems to make sense. I’m guessing I can put HTML into that area for formatting purposes?
Juanfra Aldasoro December 11, 2013 at 9:54 pmHey there,
No problem 🙂
Where would you like to put HTML?

Juan.theorchard December 11, 2013 at 10:01 pmWe’re looking to put a 2 column stack and a few rows of links link this mock up below:-

How would you advise us to approach this, hard code this section, or attempt to place it into the theme editor?
Juanfra Aldasoro December 11, 2013 at 10:06 pmHi there,
I would create a new php file on the theme folder, and then from the file template-home.php call it with the function get_template_part() – http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_template_part
Then for the CSS you can use the file custom.css

Juan.theorchard December 11, 2013 at 11:01 pmHi Juan,
Quick question, since I have you, is there a simple way to avoid the slider encroaching into the header area/menu area? As per my screenshot in the previous post, we’d like the blue menu bar section to remain as is.
At the moment, when I turn the slider on and put an image in, the menu items float on top of the slider image but the blue bar disappears.
Please refer to the difference between the desired look:-

Thanks for writing.
I’ve been through your site and it looks quite the same as the png you’re referring to. What’s exactly what you want to do there?
