Way to have sidebar on "home" page?

I used the XML demo content for flatbase to get started and have the it looking like the demo page.
My boss asked me if it was possible to add a right hand sidebar on to the “home”/main page so I can put latest news (blog post)

Hi there,
Thanks for writing.
Unfortunately the home page template doesn’t include a right hand sidebar, however, if you check the demo site you’ll see that below the video section there are three columns. Those are widgetized spaces, that means that you could put a widget like “Recent posts” over there and present the latests posts.
